The Community of West African States has called for respect for Venezuela's sovereignty

After the US military operation in Caracas, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) called for respect for the territorial integrity of Venezuela.

"ECOWAS reaffirms its solidarity with the Venezuelan people and calls on all states to respect the independence and territorial integrity of Venezuela," X said in a statement on social media.

The Community also expressed its support for the Venezuelan people and reminded countries of their obligation to respect sovereignty under the UN Charter.

On January 3, the United States launched a full-scale attack on Venezuela, capturing the country's president, Nicolás Maduro, and his wife, Cilia Flores, and transporting them to New York.
