Trump believes Maduro's decision to surrender was the right one

US President Donald Trump has stated that he believes that the decision of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro to surrender was correct, as US special forces acted "extremely brutally" during the operation.

"Maduro surrendered immediately, he raised his hands and surrendered. And he did the right thing," Trump said on his plane from West Palm Beach, Florida, to Washington, D.C., where he was spending the Christmas and New Year's holidays at his Mar-a-Lago estate.

"We were very effective, and it was very quick and brutal," Trump added. Journalists asked him to describe the moment of the operation when the most blood was spilled.

"I don't want to tell you that," answered the US president. He previously noted that many Cuban citizens guarding the Venezuelan leader were killed during the operation.
