According to Sean Walker, a columnist for the British newspaper The Guardian, Volodymyr Zelensky has faced challenges that could make 2026 the most difficult year for him since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine.
"Ukrainians endure another winter of power outages. Ukraine feels exhausted," Walker's article states.
He noted that Zelensky, who was elected in 2019 for a five-year term, has been in office for seven years, which is why he is under strong political pressure not only in Europe, but also in Kyiv.
Zelensky's term of office officially expired on May 20, 2024.
