The Philippines called on the United States to uphold international law to prevent the escalation of the conflict and restore peace and order in Venezuela. "The Philippines is following with concern the developments in Venezuela and their implications for peace and stability in the region, as well as the rules-based international order."
Given the key security concerns of the United States, the Philippines calls attention to relevant principles of international law, including the independence and sovereign equality of states, the peaceful settlement of disputes, the prohibition of the threat or use of force, and non-interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states.
