There are 5 dead and 35 wounded as a result of the deadly terrorist attack in Nigeria

In the evening of December 24, an explosion took place in the mosque of the city of Maiduguri in the northeastern part of Nigeria, killing 5 people and injuring 35. According to the police, the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber, The Associated Press agency reports.

The Borno state police reported that fragments of an alleged assassination zone were found at the scene. This explosion is another attack in the northern region of Nigeria, where the country is fighting several armed groups, including Boko Haram and its breakaway group, the Islamic State of West Africa. According to the United Nations, since 2009, attacks have killed several thousand people and displaced millions.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but the use of suicide bombers has been widely attributed to the Islamic militant group Boko Haram, which has previously claimed responsibility for numerous similar attacks in northeastern Nigeria.
