Scientists affirm that aggression can be contagious

Considering aggressive behavior can increase the inclination of violence. This conclusion was the neurologists of the Medical School of the South University. The results of the study were published in JNEUROSCI magazine.

The research team experimented with mice. They placed male rodents in the camera, from where they watched familiar or unfamiliar individuals attacked others. It turned out that the observers had the hostility and conflict, while the behavior of strangers did not have such an impact.

According to scientists, social ties play an important role in the "infection" of aggression. Researchers have linked the mechanism of this phenomenon with the activity of a certain group of the gland, which is the part of the brain that is responsible for aggressive behavior. The neurons were activated only when the mice saw the aggression of familiar individuals.

"The results of the experience help to better understand how the social environment and the observation of others' behavior affect the development of aggressive reactions, which is important for a study of human psychology," said the authors of the study.

Scientists have also assumed that people, at least in men, can work the development of violence in a similar way.
