Why do mosquitoes bite some people more and others less?

Scientists from the University of Washington are studying the peculiarities of the feeding behavior of mosquitoes, writes Fox Weather.

Scientists are particularly interested in how mosquitoes find food sources, including the differences in the behavior of male mosquitoes, which feed mainly on nectar, and female mosquitoes, which require blood to lay eggs.

If you think you are attractive to mosquitoes, then you probably are. According to researchers, some individuals bite much more often than others.

“The smell of our skin, sweat, the carbon dioxide we exhale is actually a very strong signal to mosquitoes. And, of course, the clothes we wear,” the scientists note.

Scientists have found that mosquitoes do not like the colors white and green, but they are attracted to red and especially black.

Researchers are studying how mosquitoes use their visual and olfactory senses to select targets and obtain blood.

Mosquitoes can also learn from their interactions with you. If they find you attractive and bite you, they may start to enjoy biting you. But they can also learn to avoid you. If you try to squeeze them, they may learn to stay away from you.
