Ukraine does not want nuclear weapons, but NATO membership. Zelensky

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine does not plan to return nuclear weapons, but wants to receive an invitation to NATO. His words are quoted by Strana.ua.

According to him, Kyiv addresses the issue of security guarantees at all levels.

"The best is NATO... We are not asking for them to give us nuclear weapons or give them back. We gave the weapons, but we didn't get anything," said Zelensky.

He noted that he told not only US presidential candidate Donald Trump, but also US president Joe Biden and candidate Kamala Harris about this position.

"I asked them, can you tell me about other allies or 'another security umbrella', some security measures and guarantees for Ukraine that would be comparable to NATO? No one can tell me," said Zelensky.
