Seven Israeli citizens of Azerbaijani origin were arrested on suspicion of spying for Iran

The Israeli police announced the arrest of seven Israeli citizens of Azerbaijani origin on suspicion of spying for Iran. According to investigators, the group carried out more than 600 tasks, including collecting intelligence on secret military facilities and the country's infrastructure.

Among the spies' targets were such strategic targets as the Ramat Davt, Nevatim air bases and the Glilot military base. The suspects collected information about orders received through intermediaries and passed that information to Iranian agents.

Seven people were arrested, including two minors. Among the suspects are Aziz Nesnov, Alexander Sidykov, Igal Nissan, Vyacheslav Goshin and Yevgeny Yuva. They are all residents of Israel.

Police say they spent two years photographing military bases, power plants and the Iron Dome missile defense system. In return for their work, they received hundreds of thousands of dollars, paid through Russian intermediaries.

The investigation revealed documents confirming their involvement, and the suspects have been in custody for more than a month. Formal charges are expected to be filed by the end of the week.
