The internal code name of the next version of Google's mobile operating system has been revealed. According to GSmarena, Android 17, the stable version of which is to be released in June 2026, is developed under the name "Cinnak Bulk".
Google has traditionally called Android options with candy names, but this public practice was stopped in 2019 by issuing Android 10. However, internal developers continue to give code names to their projects.
The name of the "cinnuble Bulk" for Android 17 may seem surprising, given the long-term tradition of calling Android versions (after the public renunciation of this practice should be w). This deviation is conditioned by a fundamental change in the process of the development of Google's mobile operating system last year.
Instead of the previous system of different branches, all new functions, corrections and APIs are now integrated into one major branch, which remains permanently stable.
