Scientists have discovered the secret of life on earth with the help of microbes

Scientists from Monash University, Melbourne University and London University College have revealed how life could come to earth, and how microbes can help us fight climate change today. The work was published in The ISME Journal scientific journal.

We are talking about microboliths, stone structures that build the colonies of microorganisms. They are considered one of the oldest traces of life on the planet. It turned out that many microbes living in these structures survive not due to the light, such as plants through chemical reactions.
"We have found that these microbes can get energy even in complete darkness, for example, using hydrogen, ammonia or iron," said Dr. Francesco Rich from Monash University.
In his words, this proves that microboliths were unique "evolutionary laboratories", where new ways of survival were born.

The other researcher, Dr. Bob Leung added. "These microbes work together as a well-coordinated team. They are not only surviving, but also actively recycling carbon dioxide even at night when a photo remedy does not happen. "
The study shows that microbial communities can be a model for cleaning the atmosphere from greenhouse gases. Researchers are convinced that these mechanisms can be used to neutralize industrial emissions.
