I am glad to emphasize that this initiative was welcomed by many of our partners, and Iran was one of the first among them. With a mutual commitment to expand our trade and communication links, Armenia is taking active practical steps towards the construction of the North-South Motorway, evaluating the benefits of using the Chabahar port, and working towards mutually reducing road tolls between our countries. Further developing our border services and customs control capabilities with its neighbors, the border guard service of Armenia will fully take over the operations at the Armenia-Iran border checkpoint from January 1, 2025.
In this regard, I would like to express my gratitude to the relevant authorities of the Russian Federation for their support and service over the years. I am also happy to announce that after the joint assessment of the bridge between Armenia and Turkey, Armenia has already completed the construction and technical upgrading of the Margara border crossing on the Armenia-Turkey border. provision. With this vision in mind, as you are all aware, we have proposed to Azerbaijan ways to reactivate our railway infrastructure, simplify border crossing and customs procedures, and provide some additional security mechanisms with full respect for the sovereignty and jurisdiction of both countries," he said. is Mirzoyan.
Concluding the speech, the Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Armenia reaffirmed that Armenia is sincerely interested and has already repeatedly demonstrated its commitment to contribute to the development of regional channels and strengthening of interdependence with its neighbors, based on the principles of the UN Charter, in particular sovereignty, territorial integrity, internationally on the inseparability of recognized borders and political independence.
