Scholz promised Israel new arms supplies

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz assured the Israeli authorities that Germany will continue to supply weapons to the Jewish state, despite criticism of its actions in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon. “Deliveries are being carried out and more will be delivered. Israel can rely on this,” the head of government said Germany, speaking in the Bundestag.
At the same time, he stressed that in the fight against Hamas and Hezbollah, Israel must respect humanitarian law.
Scholz also warned Iran against attacking the Jewish state. "Iran is playing with fire. This must stop," the chancellor said.
Earlier, the Bild newspaper reported that the German authorities have not issued permits for the export of weapons to Israel since March because of the position of the green ministers - the heads of the Ministry of Economy Robert Habeck and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Annalena Bärbock. According to the publication, they blocked supplies, seeking guarantees that the weapons would not be used “for genocide.” As a result, the Jewish state last week provided such written guarantees.
