On his Facebook page, political scientist Suren Surenyants reflected on the attitude of the Armenian society towards the defeat of the national team in the Armenia-North Macedonia match and the recent suicides in the army.
"I am also a football fan and, of course, I understand the dissatisfaction of that segment of society and the demand for the resignation of the FFA leadership. But in no way do I understand the comfort that we have created for Suren Papikyan and the head of the State Security Service. And that is when we have a casualty in the army once a week, as a result of the complex created by this couple. Winning in football is a pleasant thing that nourishes our dignity. But a sports defeat is not a tragedy, it does not cause human deaths and the undermining of national security. When we are highly responsible in "uncertain" matters, but completely unaccountable in matters related to state security, the consequences are quite sad," he wrote.
