Lavrov urged the West to lift sanctions from Afghanistan

Western countries must lift sanctions from Afghanistan and take responsibility for its restoration, said Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov at consultations on the situation in Afghanistan. The Diplomat quotes TASS.

According to the head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the current actions of Western countries have brought the situation around Afghanistan to a standstill, and despite the fact that the United States and its allies talk about supporting the Afghans, they are actually preventing the restoration of the state. On October 4, a meeting on Afghanistan is held in Moscow, in which representatives of the movement "Taliban" (organization prohibited in Russia) take part.

The participants of the meeting discuss the expansion of cooperation between Moscow and Kabul in the political, economic, counter-terrorist and anti-narcotic areas, as well as the possibility of Afghan national reconciliation. Earlier, Lavrov accused the West of intentionally escalating the situation around Taiwan.
