Belarus will be able to vote in Russia's elections

By his decree, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko approved the draft protocol on making changes in the agreement on equal rights of citizens between Belarus and Russia on December 25, 1998. This was stated by the press service of the head of state.

"The draft protocol allows the citizens of Belarus and Russia to elect the local elections in the territory of another state to elect and be elected in local self-government bodies," the statement said.

"This document is the result of a targeted job in Belarus to ensure equal rights of Belarus and Russian citizens, including electoral rights, as well as Belarusian citizens living in Russia cannot participate in the local elections," the text said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has the right to hold talks on the Protocol project and sign it.
