Iran has had no contact with the US since Trump's inauguration

Since the inauguration of President Donald Trump, Iran has not exchanged communications with the new US administration, the Islamic Republic's Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi said.

"Several days have passed since the new government came to power in the USA, but it is still too early to talk about communication channels, although the Swiss embassy is the official channel for exchanging messages. There is and will be in Tehran," said the Deputy Foreign Minister in an interview with ISNA.

According to him, despite the fact that the message channel through Muscat, launched under former US President Joe Biden, was closed, "there were other countries that received and transmitted messages between the US and Iran."

From May to October 2024, Iran and the United States held indirect talks with the mediation of Oman, during which the cancellation of unilateral American sanctions, as well as Tehran's nuclear program, were discussed.
