Tehran sent a note of protest to Baku

Ali Alizadeh, Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Tehran, was summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry today. A note of protest was sent to him in connection with the "immoral actions of some circles" against Iranian students in Azerbaijan, the state IRNA agency reports.

According to the publication, the head of the Eurasian Affairs Department of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Mujtab Demirchilu, during a meeting with the Azerbaijani ambassador, called such steps "harmful" and demanded that "the organizers and authors of such negative actions be brought to justice."

The Iranian official also emphasized the need for a "decisive fight against insults" to religious figures.

"The ambassador of Azerbaijan expressed regret for some negative statements and actions and promised to inform the authorities of his country about the situation," the message says.

According to Turan News Agency of Azerbaijan, 10 Iranian students studying at the Medical University of Azerbaijan were expelled from the country in recent days for "immoral behavior".
