Turkey and Syria will discuss the issue of extending the free trade agreement

Turkey and Syria have discussed issues of commercial cooperation and customs operations, agreeing to study the possibility of extending a free trade agreement. This is stated in the statement of the Turkish Ministry of Commerce.

"The parties agreed to start negotiations to extend the free trade agreement in 2011 to create a more comprehensive approach to economic relations," the department said.

It was also decided to conduct an audit in the customs system system. "A decision has been made to reconsider customs duties on both sides to the same extent to all border points," the Ministry of Commerce said.
