Damage from the California wildfires is estimated at $350 million

The damage caused to the infrastructure of the Los Angeles region as a result of the fires is estimated at about 350 million dollars, reports the Los Angeles Times, citing local authorities.

"This month, the wildfires that broke out in the Pacific Chambers and other parts of Los Angeles destroyed or caused about $350 million in damage to public infrastructure," the newspaper writes, citing a report submitted to the city council.

The Palisades Fire, which destroyed more than 6,600 buildings and damaged another 890, is said to have caused the most damage. Authorities expect the amount of damage to increase.

Earlier, the weather monitoring service AccuWeather reported that the total damage of the raging fires in California reached 250-275 billion dollars.

The forest fires that started in Los Angeles County on January 7 are considered the biggest in the state's history. According to the authorities, the total area of the fires exceeded 16 thousand hectares. At least 25 people died.
Meteorologists note that the dry and windy weather caused the fire to spread quickly.
