The high-ranking anti-corruption investigation agency has requested a new court order to extend the detention of South Korean President Yun Seok-yeol beyond 48 hours. This is reported by the department.
"On the afternoon of January 17, the department requested the Seoul Western District Court to arrest the suspect identified as Yoon," the department said.
The president was arrested at 10:33 a.m. local time (04:33 a.m. Moscow time) on January 15. On January 16, his detention was extended by 10 hours and 32 minutes after his lawyers tried to challenge the legality of the arrest in court. on January 17 at 21:05.
Detention allows detention for no more than 48 hours.
