Moscow did not participate in the preparation of the agreement between Israel and Hamas on the release of hostages and the cease-fire in Gaza from January 19. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov informed journalists about this, answering the relevant question of TASS.
"Russia did not participate in this process," he said.
On the evening of January 15, Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdel Rahman Al Thani, announced that, as a result of mediation efforts by Doha, Cairo and Washington, Israel and Hamas had reached an agreement on the release.
The agreement will enter into force on Sunday, January 19.
