Two new features in WhatsApp: Nicknames and PIN protection

The beta version of WhatsApp has new features aimed at increasing the privacy and security of users, as reported by the WABetaInfo portal.
Setting up nicknamesIn the beta version of WhatsApp for Android 2.23.11.15, it became possible to set a nickname for your account. This allows you to hide your personal phone number from unknown interlocutors, while maintaining the ability to search for an account by nickname or number. Old contacts will continue to see the phone number, while new interlocutors will only see the username.
PIN protectionAnother beta version for Android 2.24.18.2 added a function for blocking incoming messages from unknown users with a PIN code. Users can set a code of at least four digits, which will need to be entered to write a message for the first time. Old chats do not require a PIN code, and the function is disabled by default. When to expect it?The timing of when these features will appear in stable versions of WhatsApp for Android and iOS has not yet been disclosed.
