Russia is open to restoring the political dialogue with the USA. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated this in an interview with TASS.
"As for the prospect of Russian-American relations, if the US is ready, we are open to the restoration of the political dialogue interrupted by Washington," Lavrov said.
At the same time, Lavrov noted that Washington should take the first step.
"Maybe someone still has some illusions, I haven't had them for a long time, judge for yourself, even if the newly elected US President Donald Trump tries to restore bilateral ties, he will have to swim against the tide, given the bipartisan consensus in the US on Russia in the matter of containment, including by supporting the neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv.
Thus, we will see if the Americans take our interests into account, then the dialogue will gradually be restored, if they do not take this into account, then everything will remain as it is," said the Russian Foreign Minister.
