The beta version of WhatsApp for Android already converts voice messages to text

The test version of the WhatsApp application for Android now has a function to decode voice messages into text, writes the website WABetaInfo. The new function was added in the latest beta version (2.24.15.5) and is currently available only to a limited number of users. However, this means that this useful feature may appear in the stable version of the messenger in the foreseeable future. The voice message transcribing feature was originally introduced in WhatsApp in May 2023, but only for iOS device users.

Voice-to-text transcription currently supports English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, and Hindi. In the future, the developers of the messenger will add support for other languages. The transcription will be done directly on the phone without the need to send a message to a third-party server, which increases the security of the process. The feature is currently only available to a limited number of users in selected countries where the languages listed above are widely used. It is not specified when the innovation will work for all WhatsApp users.
