The Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio drew attention to the fires in northern Russia, Greenland, and Alaska.

The actor made a repost of The Guardian article on Instagram.

“The Arctic Circle is suffering from an unprecedented number of wildfires in the latest sign of a climate crisis. Huge blazes in Greenland, Siberia and Alaska are producing plumes of smoke that can be seen from space. The World Meteorological Organisation has said these fires emitted as much CO2 in a month as the whole of Sweden does in a year,” he wrote on Instagram.

More than three million hectares of forest are burning in Siberia and the Far East. Many Russian stars are calling to sign a Greenpeace petition to put out fires.

The actor is not indifferent to the fate of Russia, because he has Russian roots. His grandmother Elena Stepanovna Smirnova is Russian.
