We have reached the 21st century, we are weak, helpless, and there is still an idea that let's not get mixed up, so that we don't get trampled. Suren Sahakyan

Politician Suren Sahakyan wrote on his Facebook page:

"This "thought" to Vano Siradeghyan. "One thing. A simple, very close to impossible thing for us Armenians, the early realization of the truth that the small nation has nothing to gain in the arena of the clash of big interests, the benefit is to get out of that fight with small losses."

Of course, many of his followers will be convinced that Vano's thoughts are inscrutable and "nothingness like me should not reserve the right to criticize the inscrutable". But I must have that courage, because the "thought" voiced by its bearers has become one of the cornerstones of the foreign policy of my state, Armenia, and puts its future in danger.

Moreover, as a rebuttal, I will bring only dry FACTS, and let others do their analysis, apart from me. Before the First World War in 1821-78. Greece, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria became independent from the Ottoman Empire in the "arena of the clash of great interests" (as a result of the clash of interests of great states). They were countries that decided to fight for their existence, identity and independence. Armenians, of course, decided to stay away from those conflicts so as not to "fall under their feet".

As a result of the First World War ("in the arena of the clash of great interests") they fought and gained independence, such states as Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Jordan appeared on the international map. Armenians, of course, guided by this political "thought" decided not to get involved in the "fight of the elders" and committed genocide. As a result of the Second World War ("in the arena of the clash of great interests"), states such as Israel, India, etc. fought and gained independence.

And now, having passed through this for two centuries, being genocidated and destroyed as a result of "not getting involved", not advancing our own interests, we have reached the 21st century, weak, helpless, and the thought is still heard that let's not get involved, so that we don't get trampled.

Meanwhile, not fighting, not getting involved and not being on any side has brought us from being an important factor to being weak and helpless. The Turks know us better than we do, because in order to justify the genocide they carried out, they planted the idea in us that "you were involved in our conflict by the Russians, that's why you were massacred." "We" are still chewing "we" with great appetite.

It is this idea that even today compels some even-minded figures to repeat. "Did you see that we are interfering in the fight of elders, what is happening? let's never get mixed up."

And it is with this in mind that any changes that happen in the future will once again be at our expense. On the contrary, we must fight and change this stereotype, loudly announce our interests and fight for them, otherwise such stereotypes lead us to a new disaster every time." .
