The head of the observation delegation of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly of Armenia's parliamentary elections to be held on June 7 will arrive in Yerevan on May 22-23, as part of preparations for the full-scale deployment of observers next month.
Member of Parliament of Montenegro and Vice-Chairman of the Main Committee of Political Affairs and Security of the OSCE PA Eurosima Pejović will have meetings with a wide range of interlocutors in order to get a more complete picture of the general pre-election situation.
The purpose of the visit is to get an idea of the pre-election context and preparations for the upcoming elections. During two days, Pejović will meet with representatives of state bodies, electoral administration, political parties and alliances, civil society organizations, mass media, as well as the OSCE ODIHR (ODIHR) mission already working on the ground.
Pejović will work together with special coordinator Farah Karimi (Netherlands), who will head the OSCE short-term observation mission.
The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly observation mission will closely cooperate with the OSCE ODIHR mission, as well as the delegations of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and the European Parliament (EP).
It is expected that more than 100 parliamentarians and employees from more than 30 countries of the OSCE region will participate in the observation mission, which will enable a comprehensive assessment of the electoral process.
