How much money was allocated to the events dedicated to Charles Aznavour's 100th birthday?

From the state budget of Armenia, 773 million 126 thousand drams were allocated to the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the great chansonnier Charles Aznavour, which were held both in Armenia and outside the country's borders. This was stated by Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Armenia Daniel Danielyan at a meeting with journalists on November 5.

"It is noteworthy that Aznavouryan year has been declared not only in Armenia, but also in the whole world. The 100th anniversary of Charles Aznavour is included in the 2024-2025 calendar of famous people and important events of UNESCO," Danielian reminded.

According to the assessment of the Deputy Minister, the events were held in a comprehensive scope, ensuring high participation. Tours of various collectives operating in Armenia have been organized in different parts of the world, starting from Armenia to Latin America. New concerts of various formats are expected in both Arab and Baltic countries. As a new approach to presenting Aznavour art, Danielyan singled out the format of playing Aznavour through folk instruments.

According to him, the jubilee year was also marked by various events in the regions of the Republic of Armenia, through presentations, theater performances, and movie screenings. Soon, a new exhibition dedicated to Charles Aznavour with the participation of Armenian and foreign artists is planned in the Union of Artists of Armenia.

"Charles Aznavour is so much ours that when we talk about him, we are talking about our friend. This is the proof of being a great artist, which is in the hearts of all of us," said the deputy minister.

Danielyan emphasized that Aznavour's jubilee year was marked in a different format in addition to classical approaches, in order to see how today society, and especially young people, assimilate and perceive Aznavour's musical, cinema, theater and photographic legacy.
