On February 14, underground gas storage (UGS) reserves in the European Union fell below 34%, which is the lowest level for that day in the last four years, RIA Novosti found out, based on the data of the Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) company.
According to GIE data, the overall occupancy rate of underground gas storage facilities in the European Union as of February 14 was 33.97%. The last time stocks were below this level was in 2022, when they reached 32.63%.
In 2025, reserves on February 15 were 45.2%, in 2024 - 65.79%, and in 2023 - 65.27%.
As of February 14, reserves in French underground gas storages had decreased to 24.5%. In one of the most important EU countries, Germany, UGS stocks also fell below 25% on February 12, the lowest level recorded for that day.
As of February 14, the occupancy rate remains at 23.95%. Miller expressed confidence that Europe will have many difficulties in providing summer gas injection to its underground storage facilities.
