Former NA Ambassador Martun Grigoryan sent his first message from the detention center.
"Dear compatriots, co-conspirators, people of Gyumri,
You are all aware that on August 13, the investigators from the Anti-Corruption Committee visited me and to the surprise of all of us, without any prior notice or invitation, in fact, they immediately arrested me, after which, according to the procedure, at the evening court session, the judge decided to imprison me for two months, in an incomprehensible case that I have nothing to do with.
I do not want to touch on the legal side of the case, the defense side regularly informs the public about it in detail.
I would like to talk about the moral side of this situation, which is very clear and obvious, that this is only and only a political persecution, which we have been going through for a year and more, my team, my family and I, and you all know this very well.
I have waited for this day because I knew from the beginning that they first tried to weaken me with criminal cases and arrests against all the men in my family, my father and sons, as well as my teammates, which did not work, I never got depressed, I never took a step back. I continued my way, continued with the same handwriting, the same speech.
I am always a supporter of healthy and constructive criticism, but anyway, you all know my restrained and correct political speech.
I am repeating now from the penitentiary: there is no need to enter families for elections, to put people in front of difficulties and misfortunes, elections have been and will be. It would be correct if the struggle was on the political level.
Anyway, this will pass, I am not discouraged, discouraged, weakened by difficulties, my 20-year political path has been quite difficult and with obstacles, but I have very strong willpower and one of the most important ones is to always remain loyal to the human value system.
I am informed through my lawyer that you are very interested in me.
These days, I especially feel how much strength the trust of the people standing next to a person gives a person. Your support is not just an attitude. It is a responsibility that I am very well aware of.
I appreciate each of you.
