Lithuania will send a warship to Ukraine as part of security guarantees

As part of the security guarantees provided to Kiev by the West, Vilnius will also send a warship to Ukraine, in addition to the ground troops. Vilnius president Gitanas Nauseda stated this in an interview with BNS.

"Peacekeeping must be ensured on land, sea and air. "Lithuania, taking into account its size and capabilities, will significantly contribute to this," he asserted. "We are ready to contribute with a naval unit. We are talking about a warship.'

The president did not give details, but noted that Lithuanian troops will not participate in military operations in Ukraine. "They are not sent to fight, but to keep the peace," Nauseda insisted.

Earlier, the adviser to the president, Asta Skysgiritte, without mentioning the type of troops, announced that Lithuania is ready to send up to 150 soldiers to Ukraine.
