Russian scientists have found a way to increase the production of a vital medicine for pregnant women

Researchers at Perm Polytechnic University have offered a new approach to solving the problem of anti-sense immunoglobulin deficiency. The press service of the educational institution told "Gazeta.ru" about this.

Hemolytic disease occurs during a resuscitation conflict. If the mother has a rhesus-negative blood, and the fruit is positive, the woman's immune system can perceive the child's cells as a stranger and attack them. This leads to fruit red blood cells and severe complications. In order to avoid such a scenario, pregnant women at risk of the residence conflict is given to anti-Armenian immunoglobul, a special protein from donor plasma.

"The main difficulty is to find donors at the necessary level of antibodies. Our analysis of more than 95,000 people allowed us to separate two optimal groups. Women who had a resuscitious conflict during pregnancy were the most promising. Their plasma contains the highest and most stable antibody's titles, "said Larisa Volkova, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Environmental Defense of the Poltechnics University.

Currently, there are six anti-sensional immunity drugs, three of which are produced abroad. The supplies of analogues imported due to sanctions have dropped sharply. According to RNC PHARMA, only 48,000 packages entered the country in 2024, which is 71% less than last year.

According to scientists, the creation of the domestic database of donors will reduce dependence on foreign suppliers and will ensure the safety of pregnant women and newborns. In the future, researchers are discussing the method of immunization of donors, which can further increase the production of the drug.
