Putin said that Russia is building a fleet, the likes of which no other country has

Russia is building an icebreaker fleet that no one else in the world has. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this at a meeting with the heads of leading media outlets of the BRICS member countries, RIA Novosti reports.

The President clarified that as of today, Russia has seven nuclear and 34 diesel icebreakers of a very high class. No other country has such a fleet. “Another leading icebreaker is being built, which will generally break ice of any thickness and will work all year round,” Putin added.

On Friday, October 18, Vladimir Putin holds a meeting with the heads of leading media outlets of the BRICS member countries.

On the part of the journalistic community, Russia is represented by the General Director of the Rossiya Segodnya media group, Dmitry Kiselev.

Gazeta.Ru is broadcasting the event online. There, the Russian President spoke about a large-scale plan for the development of the Northern Sea Route. Earlier, Putin identified regions that will become centers of global growth.
