Iran has offered to open the Strait of Hormuz to the United States in exchange for compensation from Washington, Saudi Arabia's Al Arabiya TV channel reported, citing diplomatic sources.
"Iran has offered to open the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for compensation from the United States," TV channel sources claim. According to them, Iran forwarded two proposals to Pakistan, which mediates in indirect negotiations with the United States. The Iranian authorities also offered to "discuss the issue of sanctions and frozen assets before signing any agreement."
Earlier, the spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baghai, announced that the nuclear issue and the lifting of sanctions will not be discussed at the current stage of negotiations with the United States. He stated that the demand for the lifting of restrictions is Iran's "unchanged position" and will be discussed in the "next stages" after the final approval of the agreement.
