"We grieve that the former Radik Martirosyan, the former Rector of the Academician of NAS RA, Yerevan State University, has left his life at the age of 89. He contributed to his long-term activity in the Republic of Armenia in the development of higher education and science. This was reported by the RA Ministry of Edition.

Academician Radik Martirosyan was born in 1936 in the village of Mataghis, NKAO Martakert region. He graduated from YSU Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, with a degree in astrophysicus, then the USSR Moscow P. Postgraduate studies at the Lebed Establishment of the Lebed E.

The work was launched in 1958-1960 as a junior researcher at the IMSR Byurakan Observatory, as a senior researcher, head of the Laboratory Department, and the positions of deputy director and director.

In 1980, Radik Martirosyan received a PhD, and in 1982 he was awarded the title of professor. In 1986 he was elected a corresponding member of the Armenian SSR in 1990, academician.

Along with the work at the Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics, he has been teaching at YSU since 1965, being the head of the Department of Exalt International Frequency Physics at YSU. In 1993-2006 he took the post of YSU Rector.

In 2006-2021, he was chairman of the National Academy of Sciences, continuing his work at YSU as the head of the Chair of Radiophysics and Telecommunications, as the Chairman of the Professional Council awarding the scientific degrees in YSU. Since 2016, he has been a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and since 2021, the Chief Adviser to the Presidency of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia. Author of more than 200 scientific works.

He was awarded a "honor" of the friendship of the peoples, St. Mesrop Mashtots, and the 1st degree of services to the Homeland, as well as YSU Medal, the President of the Italian Government and other orders.

The Ministry of Education will be extends its condolences to the family, relatives, colleagues and the Armenian scientific community of Academician Radik Martirosyan. His unchaenable scientific-educational heritage will remain bright in the history of science and higher education in Armenia.

We would like to inform you that in order to organize the funeral of Academician Radik Martirosyan, the RA Prime Minister will be established by the RA Prime Minister.
