Sanctions against Russia may lead to lack of fish fingers in the EU

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization has warned that the full ban of fish imports from Russia to Europe can lead to a lack of popular goods such as fish fingers. This was reported by RBC, referring to the organization of the global fish market published by the organization in February.

The document states that such anti-Russian means, which are currently being discussed by the EU, will first hit Germany, the largest importer of Russian fish and seafood in the region. This will not only lead to a lack of fish products, but will affect the number of jobs in the food industry.

In late January, the President of the All-Russian Association of Fisherman, German Zver said that EU sanctions against Russian fish will significantly reduce supplies from the Russian Federation. According to him, the European Union is the main consumer of white fish in the world, and this market largely depends on the Russian import of the stem. He noted that the sanctions on the Russian Federation have already led to a significant lack of raw materials for local processors and raising prices for consumers.
