Pistorius said the conflict in Ukraine is no longer regional

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius believes that the conflict in Ukraine has ceased to be regional. He expressed this opinion at an event organized by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, which is close to the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD).

The conflict in Ukraine “is no longer a regional war,” the DPA agency quotes excerpts from his speech. Pistorius claimed that Russia has “completely switched to a war economy” and produces as many weapons and ammunition in three months as the entire European Union produces in a year. “Our security is a fragile blessing,” the minister stated. In this regard, he said, Germany must invest more actively in its “ability to wage war.”
