"Montblanc" silver pen belonging to Singapore's first prime minister Lee Kuan Yew was sold at auction for 360 thousand dollars, The Straits Times reports. "Montblanc Meisterstuck No. 146" pen was sold on August 16 at the "Hotlotz" auction held in Singapore. The inscription "Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew" is engraved on the pen.
The 18-carat gold-tipped pen was previously sold for $52,000 at the Sotheby's "The Lee Kuan Yew Family Collection" auction in July 2003.
Lee Kuan Yew (1923–2015) was the first Prime Minister of Singapore and served from 1959–1990. During his leadership, Singapore began rapid economic development with an emphasis on modernizing the country, attracting investment, and creating an efficient government system.
