Finland's Ministry of the Interior is accused of religious discrimination against refugees

Finland's equality ombudsman has said that the instructions of the Ministry of the Interior on the distribution of the refugee quota for 2025 contain signs of religious discrimination. This is reported by the Ministry of the Interior of Finland. On October 9, it was reported that members of the Finnish government, members of the "True Finns" party, seek to reduce the quotas of refugees from Muslim countries and replace them with refugees from Christian countries.

The heads of the Ministry of the Interior and Transport, Mari Rantanen and Lulu Rann, who represent the "True Finns", have instructed officials to distribute quotas so that they do not accept refugees from, for example, Afghanistan, but take people from, for example, Venezuela.

"The Equality Ombudsman considers that the instructions of the political leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs regarding the distribution of the refugee quota contain signs of religious discrimination, which is prohibited by the Constitution and the Equality Act," the ministry said in a statement.
