The volume of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz at the end of the week remained below the August average, Reuters reported, referring to ship tracking data.
"Shipping volume in the Strait of Hormuz fell below its monthly average at the end of the week due to volatile relations between the United States and Iran, as both countries make competing claims for control of the strait," Reuters reported.
The number of cargo ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz rose slightly on Thursday to nine from five on Wednesday, but remained below the daily average of 12, Reuters reported, citing Kpler data for August.
