The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, responded to the information spread in the media about the intention to interrogate the 103-year-old veteran of the Great Patriotic War in Armenia, Rosalia Abgaryan, as part of the criminal proceedings.
In a comment published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Zakharova strongly criticized Yerevan's actions, linking them to Armenia's rapprochement with Europe.
"It is difficult to find a more obvious evidence of what kind of moral and spiritual disintegration leads to rapprochement with the modern faceless, morally impoverished Europe and the neo-Nazi Kiev regime," Zakharova stated.
The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry insisted that the information about Abgaryan cannot be considered separately from the steps that are considered in Moscow as a disrespectful attitude towards the general history and memory.
Zakharova also mentioned the statement from Yerevan by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about attacking the Victory Parade in Moscow, the episode related to the head of one of the educational institutions of the RA Defense Ministry, as well as the house arrest of the president of the Union of Veterans of Armenia.
According to him, veterans like Rozalia Abgaryan are bearers of historical memory and universal values.
"Thanks to their courage and self-sacrifice, today's Armenia lives and can build plans for the future. "Apparently, they forgot about it in the high cabinets of Yerevan," Zakharova stated.
He expressed his confidence that the 103-year-old veteran "will withstand any questioning", at the same time harshly criticizing the Armenian authorities.
