Typhoon Dolphin, which has become the 13th typhoon in the region this year, made landfall in the Yuhuang area of Taizhou City in east China's Zhejiang Province at around 5:30 p.m. local time on Sunday, Xinhua reported, citing the National Meteorological Administration of the People's Republic of China.
The sustained wind speed near the center of the typhoon reached 42 m/s, which corresponds to a 14-point storm and allowed "Dolphin" to be classified as a strong typhoon at the time of landfall.
Meteorologists have warned the authorities of the affected regions about the threat of extremely heavy rains and called on them to take necessary safety measures.
