On the night of August 9, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine with various types of missiles and 202 strike drones. The Odesa region became the main target, reports RBK-Ukraine, referring to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the Ukrainian military, ballistic, anti-ship and anti-radiolocation missiles were launched in the direction of Odesa region. Among them are "Iskander-M"/S-400, "Onyx" and Kh-31P. The releases were carried out from the territory of the occupied Crimea and the waters of the Black Sea.
In addition, Russia launched 202 attack drones, including Shahed, including jet, Gerbera, and Parody simulator drones, at Ukraine. Banderol stray munitions were also used.
As of 08:00, according to preliminary data, Ukrainian air defenses in the north, south and east of the country have shot down or suppressed 174 unmanned aerial vehicles and five Banderol-type stray munitions.
Missile and strike drone strikes were recorded in 22 locations, and fragments of hit targets were found in six more locations. As a result of the work of the Ukrainian air defense system, several missiles did not reach the targets, their possible landing places are being determined.
The night before, Russia had also launched a combined attack on Odessa, using drones and ballistic missiles. Destruction and injuries were reported in the city.
On the morning of August 9, Russian forces launched a rocket attack on multi-storey residential buildings in Kharkiv. According to preliminary data, two people were killed and there are injured. There were also reports of people who may be under the rubble.
