Typhoon "Dolphin" hit the Japanese prefecture of Okinawa, leaving about 14,000 buildings without electricity and injuring five people, after which it began to move towards the coast of China, Reuters reported. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the typhoon was located about 160 km northwest of Kume Island on Saturday morning and was moving at a speed of about 15 km/h. The steady wind speed reached 162 km/h, the gusts reached 216 km/h.
Five elderly residents of Okinawa received minor injuries, three of whom fell due to the strong wind. ANA and Japan Airlines have canceled regional flights.
In Japan, the main impact of the elements is expected on Okinawa and the Amami Islands of Kagoshima Prefecture. China is preparing to "welcome" the typhoon late Sunday evening or early Monday morning. According to forecasts, the "Dolphin" will run ashore between the cities of Zhoushan in Zhejiang Province and Fuding in Fujian Province. Wind speeds near the center of the typhoon may reach 85–101 miles per hour (137–163 km/h).
