US Finance Minister Scott Besant stated that the Strait of Hormuz may no longer have its former strategic importance in the future.
According to him, Iran tried to use the strait as a tool of pressure, threatening to close it, as a result of which energy transportation routes are being reviewed.
"In the next two years, we will see that the Strait of Hormuz will lose its former importance. It will become just another waterway. I think that 50-70% of the energy transported through the strait today will be routed through underground pipelines," said Besant.
