There are only one or two outstanding issues left in negotiations between Iran and Oman on the situation around the Strait of Hormuz, a senior Iranian diplomatic source told Al Jazeera.
According to him, these disagreements "do not seem particularly complicated", and in the absence of "negative interference from other parties", the agreement can be reached within the next day or two.
The source also stated that the Strait of Hormuz was not closed due to differences between Iran and Oman. According to him, the possible closure or resumption of navigation through the strait will depend on the actions of the US, which Tehran may consider as a violation of international law.
In addition, the source informed that at the moment, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, will not visit Islamabad. However, such a visit may take place later, depending on the developments in the diplomatic process.
