Mohammad Akraminia, the spokesman of the Iranian armed forces, stated that the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened as a result of military threats or pressure.
"America's commitment to the terms of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, cessation of all military operations and respect for Iran's sovereign rights are our conditions for opening this sea artery," he stated.
According to Mehr news agency, he added that the Strait of Hormuz "will remain closed until Iran's will is respected."
Tehran considers any action taken by the US and its allies in the Strait of Hormuz outside the framework of the memorandum agreed in Islamabad "as a violation of sovereignty, which will be stopped by the armed forces", Akraminia said.
