The Standing Committee on Financial, Credit and Budgetary Issues of the National Assembly proposed the candidacy of Martin Galstyan, nominated by the "Civil Agreement" faction, for the post of Central Bank President.
Note that M. Galstyan has been the president of the Central Bank since 2020.
M. Galstyan mentioned that when he was speaking from this podium in April 2020 as a candidate for the position of Central Bank President, he said that the surrounding world is becoming more uncertain and full of challenges.
"As I claimed, the situation created just now was not a private incident, but the beginning of a fundamentally new, more complicated, upheaval period in the world economy. Unfortunately, developments in recent years have confirmed my observations.
At the same time, structural changes, from the emergence of artificial intelligence and new technologies to the aging of the population and climate change, have significantly increased the uncertainties surrounding the outlook for global economic growth. The combined influence of these factors is a serious test for those responsible for economic policy in a world order that has become more fragmented, fragile and uncertain," said M. Galstyan.
He noted that thanks to the joint efforts invested with the government's partner, macroeconomic stability has become Armenia's business card on the global investment map.
"Although we have managed to overcome many challenges and ensure price stability, we are aware that ensuring a low and stable inflation environment in an uncertain and rapidly changing world requires a new approach," said the Central Bank President.
