Air France suspends flights over the Red Sea due to an unidentified object

French airline Air France has suspended flights over the Red Sea due to a luminous object seen in that airspace. This was reported by the airline's press service. "As a precautionary measure, Air France has decided to suspend flights over the Red Sea area until further notice," the airline said in a statement on X (formerly Twitter).

“This decision was made after the crew thought that a luminous object was flying over Sudan at a high altitude,” the press service added. The air carrier informed passengers that the routes of some flights had been changed and planes already en route returned to their departure airports . In particular, a plane heading from Paris to the capital of Madagascar, Antananarivo, returned to its place of departure.

In October, Air France announced it had launched an internal investigation into its flight over Iraq, which temporarily closed its airspace during Iran's October 1 missile attack on Israel.
